Description:
I have been craving for Sinaing na Tulingan for a long time now, I just didn't know how to cook it, until I searched it online a few minutes ago...
Anyway, Mommy cooked this very simple mackerel dish that tasted a lot like sinaing na tulingan probably because of the saltiness of the fish! I ate it with kamatis and patis, perfection! =) She also made a variety which included lemon butter sauce, tasty even with lemon and soy sauce as sawsawan. =)
The original sinaing na tulingan is made of tulingan, kamias, onions and pork fat (seasoned with salt and pepper) which you put in one pot and boil until the liquid in the pot is less than half the original quantity. I think the reason this dish tasted kind of the same was becausethe lemon gave the sour taste that can substitute the kamias and of course the salt for the saltiness. Hope you like this healthy dish! =)
Ingredients:
Please note that we only "estimate" the measurement of the ingredients, in short, tanchahan lang! =)
- 2 pcs. mackerel (we got the big ones so we cut them into 3 each)
- Lemon Pepper Seasoning
- Salt
- Pepper
- PAM vegetable spray
For the Lemon Butter Sauce:
- 4 tbsp. Regular butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1 tbsp. Half and Half
- 3 tbsp. lemon juice or juice of half a lemon
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 350ºF.
Place the fish in a baking dish sprayed with PAM to avoid the fish from sticking.
Season the fish evenly on both sides with salt and pepper and lemon pepper seasoning, then drizzle with the lemon butter sauce. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil then bake for about 30-45 minutes. Make sure not to overcook and check fish every now and then.
To make the lemon butter sauce, combine all ingredients in a microwaveable dish (butter, half and half, salt and pepper) and cook on high for 30 seconds or until the butter is melted.
